You need to have plenty of patience. Most new bloggers hear about the success of the likes of John Chow and think that it's not that hard to create a blog and start earning a thousand a month. Other than that, most of it is out of your hands - just write great content. It is a slow build up, but once you have the loyal fan base that effects are amazing.
