Where Does 7Search Traffic Come From?

September 13th, 2007

7Search is a third-tier search engine that you probably have not heard about unless you do arbitrage (if you don’t know what arbitrage is, stick around, future posts will go in depth). Their site has a small search box, making it obvious that it’s not really the main point. If you use it you will see that the results that come up are all sponsored ads. As a webmaster, if you’ve used them, you like them because you can buy real cheap traffic from them - usually no more than $0.05/click. But there is a downside to this - the traffic sucks. Hard to convert. But for some purposes (like arbitrage) it fits the bill.

So where does all this traffic come from if it is not from the 7Search site? A member at WickedFire recently did some research into this, and here are the referrers that he found: (read more)

Not many recognizable domain names in there, eh? If you check some of those sites out you won’t be very impressed, either. So that’s where 7Search traffic comes from.

7Search traffic was crap for me :( I bought some 100 clicks and didn’t get a single conversion. But I’ll admit, a lot of that is probably because of the landing page I was using. One of my first attempts.

Now I write good LPs (meaning ones that can obtain a good QS) and use Adwords and AdCenter to drive better converting traffic to them at no more than $0.10/click

I used SearchFeed for a long time to do arbitrage - it worked ok, but nothing great. I only ended up making about a 1.3:1 profit. Then I switched to 7Search, and my traffic went down by a fair amount - apparently searchfeed has a much larger network - but my conversions went up a little.
